Level 2: 12 – 24 months
As our toddlers start exploring walking and movement, we also assist their rhythm and expression through music and movement activities. Songs and activities are introduced along a thematic basis such as colours or animals.
Level two children learn about higher, lower, louder and quieter sounds through listening and using instruments and voices to create these sounds for themselves. Each half term, a special song is introduced to practise daily at home in order to help learn tuneful singing.
The structure of this session is similar to the level one class, where toddlers spend 30 minutes in a teacher led session followed by 15 minutes free play when instruments are laid on the carpet for exploration. These 15 minutes allow for unlimited hands-on play and add to the social aspect of the class.
